After much anticipation, everybody’s favourite Asgardian is back. The teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok has dropped and holy hell, we’re hitting peak levels of hype.
Featuring not only Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddelston returning as Thor and Loki respectively, some new faces include Cate Blanchett, Sam Neill, and Jeff fuckin’ Goldblum. Helming the film is New Zealand director Taika Waititi known for his previous films, What We do in the Shadows and The Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
Partly filmed in Australia, Thor: Ragnarok is the third instalment of the Thor series and is set directly after his last onscreen appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It will feature Thor having Mjolnir (his giant hammer) destroyed by badass new villain Hela (played by Oscar winner and Aussie export Cate Blanchett). Now trapped on a distant planet, Thor is forced to fight Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in order to return to and save Asgard from imminent destruction aka Ragnarok.
In an AMA from earlier this year, Director Waititi hinted at the new movie being influenced by 80’s action films. It seems to be the case here with the film looking like it’s going to be hella colourful. Be prepared for a Doctor Strange cameo as well (and a rumoured Guardians of the Galaxy appearance too).
