The hype is real people. Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie are back. Director Danny Boyle, the genius behind a bunch of cinematic classics, has finally unveiled Trainspotting 2‘s teaser trailer and we’re left with all the feels.

The 41 second clip is really far too short to reveal anything about the film. It does, however, feature all the movie’s original stars, looking somewhat aged from their 1996 counterparts. Another pleasant surprise is Iggy Pop‘s Lust for Life blaring in the background, which is no doubt a great indication the soundtrack will be just as entertaining.

T2 will be loosely based on Scottish author Irvine Welsh’s 2002 novel Porno. The book itself continues Renton’s story, ten years after the events of Trainspotting, however this time around it’s the pornography business rather than heroin use that’s central to the plot. Whether or not this will be the case for the film remains to be seen.

With Boyle at the helm, and the original cast members returning, we can safely assume there will be lots of laughter, drug references and that British black comedy we’ve all come to know and love.

The film is set for release on January 27 2017. Get keen!
