“Really happy”: FWAW 2023’s Matt and Olivia have welcomed a baby boy

"We just wanted to keep this pregnancy for us."

Farmer Wants a Wife (FWAW) 2023 couple Matt Young and Olivia Benic have opened up about their new son Henry.

Olivia and Matt shocked fans when they announced Henry’s arrival. They never shared the pregnancy news on social media. Instead, they took to the platform to announce Henry’s arrival after Olivia gave birth on August 15.

Speaking of their choice not to publicly announce Olivia’s pregnancy, the couple told Woman’s Day that they loved keeping the news a secret.

“After being on Farmer, we realised we wanted to keep some things private. We just wanted to keep this pregnancy for us,” Olivia said.

“We told our close circle when we were about 15 weeks, and no one said anything. No one dobbed us in,” she laughed.

Olivia’s pregnancy journey

Olivia told the publication that she fell pregnant shortly after the couple started trying for a baby.

“We didn’t know how quickly we’d fall pregnant,” said Olivia. “But we’re really happy with how it all turned out.”

The FWAW star added that Henry’s birth happened quickly, too.

“We were expecting me to be in labour for ages, because he’s the first child, but it only ended up being about eight hours. I had to have some recovery after, so Matt was able to spend some quality time with Henry.”

Olivia and Matt are loving being new parents

Olivia and Matt bought a house in Yass, which is just outside of Canberra, earlier this year.

“It’s been really nice just nesting down for those first few weeks,” Matt said.

Olivia added that she and Matt are enjoying the new experience of being parents.

“We’re just trying to figure out what works for Henry and we’re navigating parenthood, but we’ve got each other,” said said.

“We’re the first of our friends to have kids, so that’s been a bit of a challenge,” Olivia added. “But our parents and siblings have all been around.”

The couple have even got some tips from their fellow FWAW co-stars, Clare Hockings and Brad Jones, who welcomed their son in December 2023.

 “I’ve been speaking with Clare and she’s had some great parenting advice, so that’s been really nice.”

Cute. We wonder who will be the first FWAW 2024 couple to have some farmer babies!
