Made in Bondi Season 1 has been a whirlwind; there have been breakups, make-ups, cheating scandals, and drinks have been hurled. With so much chaos, one of the show’s stars Lachy McLean has answered whether the drama on Made in Bondi is real or fake.

While there are some long-term relationships on the show — like exes Bella Salerno and Lawson Mahoney and besties Pippa Hanan and Molly Paradice — it’s no secret that producers threw together a group of twenty and thirtysomethings and have attempted to pass them off as long-running friendships.

During an exclusive interview with Chattr, Lachy revealed that while some drama is encouraged on the show, there is also real aspects to the chaos.

“Like any TV show, there’s always an element of you creating TV,” Lachy told Chattr.

“But, we are given the platform to say what we think, who we think it about, our opinions on situations, our opinions on the friendship groups and the people we like.

“We are encouraged to be as ourselves as much as possible,” he explained.

Lachy added that — like many reality TV shows — the Made in Bondi cast sometimes have conversations set up by producers to discuss the episode’s storyline.

“There is the occasional situation where you know, you’re guided to speak about a certain topic, but you’re not given the words to say on that topic,” he said.

Is Made in Bondi more real than Made in Cheslea?

Made in Bondi is the Australian version of the hit UK reality series Made in Chelsea, which has been around for 26 seasons and has some international spin-offs.

Lachy told Chattr that he believes the happenings on Made in Bondi are more legit than those on its UK counterpart.

“I think with Made in Bondi, more than the other Made In series, they [producers] want people to be themselves, and that’s how they create their characters. It’s not like a movie where you’re told to do things and such,” he said.

Who are Lachy’s friends from the Made In Bondi cast?

Throughout the first season of Made In Bondi, viewers have repeatedly seen Lachy go head to head with the show’s villains, Lawson and Charlie Moore.

Interestingly, when Lachy was asked who he was closest to on the cast, he listed basically everyone except for those two men.

“I have a lot of love for Pippa and Molly. Emma [Pillemer] is obviously often doing big and amazing things. And even Bella [Salerno] and Isabella [Cicero], I see a lot.

“Paul and Billy are such incredible businessmen themselves,” he added. “They’re great people, and then there are some people I’m not friends with.”

Lachy added that while he may not see eye to eye with some cast members, they don’t necessarily have drama outside of the show.

“Those relationships that you saw on the screen are very real and very true, and the way we interact now is very similar with everyone,” he said.

“I think when it comes to Lawson and Charlie, I’m not a resentful person. We’re very civil with each other,” he said.

Not us, sitting here wondering if Lawson and Charlie would be so diplomatic with their words…
