Two Home and Away fan favourites, Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson are returning to our screens next year!

Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor, who play Ziggy and Dean respectively, have begun filming in the gorgeous Whitsundays.

However, 7 is keeping mum on the entire storyline calling it: “top secret”, we wonder what they have in store for fans?

Why did Ziggy and Dean leave Home and Away?

Before they left Summer Bay, Ziggy and Dean were staples at the bay. After a whirlwind pregnancy in 2023, the cute couple welcomed baby Izzy into the world.

The last time we saw one of our fave couples was in March 2023 when they both made the hard decision to say farewell to Summer Bay and head to Queensland so Dean could be closer to his son, Jai.

When will we see Ziggy and Dean on Home and Away?

While scenes are being filmed right now in tropical north Queensland, the date for their return hasn’t been announced yet. But we will find out more in the new year!

But since they moved to Queensland to be closer to Dean’s son, maybe we will see his son?

Both actors are excited to come back to Home and Away.

“It feels so good to be home,” Sophie said.

“I can’t wait for the action, and for fans to see this storyline play out,” Patrick added.

Fans of Ziggy and Dean are elated! One Instagram user wrote, “So excited for them to be back, been hoping for Mackenzie to see her brother on screen again since he left.”

Another said, “Omg please tell me they are also staying for a while . That it’s not a short appearance. I love these two, they have been missed 😍”.

Home and Away airs Monday – Thursday at 7:30pm on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
