Paris 2024 has been Australia’s most successful Olympics to date and the end of the epic games will be marked by a closing ceremony in the French capital.

The ceremony will include the athletes’ parade and handover of the Olympic flag, as well as some huge performances by French and international artists.

When does the Olympics closing ceremony take place?

The closing ceremony starts on Sunday, August 11 at 8pm local Paris time, which is 4am AEST on Monday, August 12.

How to watch the Olympics closing ceremony in Australia

The closing ceremony will be broadcast live on Channel 9 and 9Now in Australia.

Because of the time difference, it kicks off at not the most sleep-friendly time for us Aussies.

For those in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria it starts at 4am (AEST). The broadcast starts in Northern Territory and South Australia (ACST) at 3:30am, and West Australians can watch it from 2am (AWST).

Who is performing at the Paris 2024 closing ceremony?

It’s been confirmed by Variety that Billie Eilish, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg will all perform at the event. French artists Air and Phoenix have also been confirmed to play at the ceremony.

It’s been heavily speculated in the media that Tom Cruise will make an appearance. BBC has theorised that he could be part of the part of the ceremony that involves Paris handing the flag to the next city to host the games, Los Angeles.

How long does the Olympics closing ceremony go for?

It will run for approximately two hours and fifteen minutes.

At very least, we Aussies can watch the whole thing before heading to work on Monday.
