It’s been a long time since we watched the last episode of The White Lotus but here’s the good news: we’re starting to receive information about Season 3, including that an Australian actor has been cast in the new season.
We are absolutely due to live another vacation vicariously through our screens, so let’s dive into everything we know so far about The White Lotus Season 3.
Will the familiar Aussie face be joined by Jennifer Coolidge? That and more below.
Who is in The White Lotus cast for Season 3?
Variety reported that The White Lotus Season 3 would be welcoming back Season 1’s Natasha Rothwell, the spa manager who was taken for a ride by Coolidge’s character, Tanya McQuoid.
But if Season 2 is anything to go off, we can most likely expect several new faces on vacation in Asia.
In July 2024, The Today Show confirmed that Australian actor, writer and director Rob Carlton would be a part of The White Lotus Season 3 cast.
“We have confirmation that Rob has joined the Season 3 cast of the international mega-hit [The] White Lotus,” Larry Emdur said as he introduced Carlton on stage.
Carlton appeared in Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo, Paper Giants: Magazine Wars and Chandon Pictures. He is also a Logie winner.
“Mike White’s an extraordinary fellow and in Mike we trust,” Carlton told The Today Show co-hosts Kylie Gillies and Emdur, noting that he felt like a little kid getting the call up.
Confirmed Season 3 cast members, according to Digital Spy, include Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age), Parker Posey (Lost in Space), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter), Blackpink singer Lisa, Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education), Michelle Monaghan (The Best Of Me) and Patrick Schwarzenegger (Gen V).
Francesca Corney, Dom Hetrakul, Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Leslie Bibb, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi and Shalini Peiris are also on The White Lotus Season 3 cast lineup.
Will Jennifer Coolidge be returning to The White Lotus cast for Season 3?
In Season 2, fan favourite and the only returning character Tanya (Coolidge), was seemingly killed off. Will we see her return from the dead, or perhaps, a long-lost twin sister will come in to take her place? Fingers crossed for a Coolidge resurrection, but there is no news yet.
In July 2024, The Today Show co-host Gillies jokingly asked Aussie actor Carlton, who will appear in Season 3, how Coolidge was to work with.
Carlton didn’t reply, after noting earlier in the interview that The White Lotus Season 3 cast had signed NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements).
Back in 2022, creator Mike White told Deadline:
“Jennifer is my friend and everybody loved her in the first season, and I was like, ‘I can’t go to Italy without Jennifer.’
“And maybe that’s still the case. Like, maybe you can’t go to Japan without Jennifer, either.”
This year, however, Coolidge seemed less optimistic when talking to Today.
“When they kill you, you have to accept it. Because it means they’re not calling for your costume sizes or anything. It’s over! I have to get another thing,” Coolidge said.
Where is the location for The White Lotus season 3?
After vacationing in Maui in Season 1 and Sicily in Season 2, HBO revealed in a statement that The White Lotus Season 3 will take us to the stunning setting of Thailand.
Filming locations include Bangkok, Koh Samui and Phuket.
What hotels will The White Lotus be filmed at?
As the first two seasons were shot at Four Seasons resorts in Hawaii and Italy, Season 3 will likely head to one of the luxury hotel giant’s four properties in Thailand.
While there are Four Season resorts in both Bangkok and Koh Samui, Bloomberg reported earlier this year that The White Lotus Season 3 would be filmed at the Koh Samui location.
AFAR has also reported that Phuket’s Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas will feature in Season 3 scenes.
What can we expect from The White Lotus season 3?
During an episode of the Unpacking explainer series, White said, “The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex.
“I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion – and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
The show has absolutely cleaned up at awards shows in recent years. In total, the series has been nominated for more than 80 awards, winning 38, including two Golden Globes and 10 Emmy awards.
The White Lotus Season 3 air date
The White Lotus Season 3 was pushed back due to 2025 due to production delays. We’ve still got a while yet!
That being said, production has definitely started, as announced by the official The White Lotus Instagram page in February this year.
Creator Mark White says it’ll be worth the wait.
“It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier,” he told Entertainment Weekly. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing.”
Is there a The White Lotus trailer for Season 3?
No official trailer as of yet, but we did get a little mp4 goodness when they announced the new season. that’s the best we’ve got, sadly!
