Neighbours star Ryan Maloney is leaving Ramsay Street after thirty years

End of an era!

Neighbours fan favourite Ryan Maloney has announced that his popular Jarrod ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi will be leaving Ramsay Street after three decades.

Ryan shared the sad news on Instagram, however, he revealed that he while he won’t be acting on Neighbours, he’ll continue to work behind the scenes.

“Hi there, it’s Ryan Maloney, formerly Jarrod ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi from Neighbours,” he began.

“That’s right, I did say formerly, because after 30 years of playing Toadie, I will be leaving Ramsay Street.”

“I can’t tell you what is going to happen to the character, whether or not we are going to see him again. Maybe I could be the next Jim Robinson,” he continued. “Or maybe I’ll be the next Harold Bishop and just keep popping back over the years.”

Ryan will work behind the scenes on Neighbours

Ryan confirmed that although Toadfish won’t be appearing on Neighbours anymore, he’ll continue to work behind the scenes on the show.

“Although I won’t be bringing you our fantastic storylines from in front of the camera, I will be bringing them to you from the other side, behind the camera,” he said.

“I’ve just started director training and have just finished filming my first episode as director – so I really hope that you enjoy that.”

Ryan’s time on Neighbours

Ryan’s character Toadfish first arrived on Ramsay Street back in 1995, and was married five times during his time on the show.

One of this most popular storylines was his marriage to Dee Bliss (played by Madeleine West), who was presumed dead when Toadie crashed the car they were in on the way to their honeymoon.

Dee later returned to Ramsay Street, as did her twin sister Andrea which left Toadie very confused. However, he ultimately chose to continue his relationship with his girlfriend Sonya, who later passed away from cancer.
