The best trailers January had to offer!

King Arthur

It’s a story that has been retold countless times. Each time, audiences are fascinated by King Arthur as if it were a brand new legend.

Guy Ritchie’s rendition of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is set to hit cinemas from April 2017, and by the look of the latest trailer, it’ll have audiences queuing up for their next dose.

Without the title, you could almost trick yourself into believing this was a completely new story. The trailer throws you into the centre of the action leaving you intrigued as Michael McElhatton demands answers. If like me, you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you’ll find your interest instantly spike with the appearance of Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton) and Aidan Gillen (Petyr ‘Little Finger’ Baelish). But the stellar cast doesn’t end there: Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator), Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), and Eric Bana (Troy) – we’re in for a killer ride. The music alone drives three minutes of cinematic scenes and blockbuster action and, while the story feels familiar, there are so many questions you’re left with.

It’s King Arthur, but not as we know it.

Let’s just hope beneath all of the fighting and famous faces, we find a new take on an old favourite.

Power Rangers

You’re either going to be really excited, or not, but pick your side because in a few months Power Rangers will but hitting cinemas.

If you didn’t read the comics, maybe you watched the TV series, but chances are you’re familiar with the story: a team of teenagers are trained by a mentor to use their superpowers to become the Power Rangers and save the world.

Led by a cast of fresh faces, the trailer sets this up to be the perfect high school superhero movie. The trailer nails just the right amount of action and mystery but the real highlight is the humour. Nobody likes a hero movie that takes itself too seriously, especially when we’re talking about teenagers, and the Power Rangers might just have a sense of humour.

Justice League

I didn’t even have to watch the trailer to be sold. While fans found themselves divided over Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, they may have just found something to unite over.

While Cyborg, The Flash and Aquaman have made small appearances in previous films, Justice League will finally give us a decent look at what Ray Fisher, Ezra Millar and Jason Momoa can bring to these characters.

We’re reunited with Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) who’re on the hunt for warriors to join them in a fight against a growing enemy. While the trailer effectively builds this intensity around whether they will join the team or not, it’s again paired with my favourite superhero banter, proving that Marvel ought to watch their back.

Although we’re sure to be in store for some incredible action and battles scenes, the final group shot reveals Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and The Flash – no Aquaman. Will he join the Justice League? I guess we’ll find out in November.
