Tasmanian native Asta was just 17 years of age when she took out triple j’s Unearthed High back in 2012, winning hearts with her acoustic debut single, My Heart is On Fire.

Since then she’s released a string of singles including two triple j Hottest 100 charting hits, had multiple festival spots and toured with the likes of pop sensation Ellie Goulding. Now, at 22, Asta’s long awaited debut EP is finally going to be released on February 17 and it is said to be brimming with her distinctive sunny alt-pop sound.

Her new collaboration with Melbourne based Yeo, and an emerging songwriter named Aurelia, has allowed the songstress to flip her original brooding acoustic pop vibe on its head. Displaying a self-assurance well beyond her years, the first single off the EP, Shine is a prismatic funk-pop gem. Filled with ringing pianos and a booming bass, Asta has crafted a brighter, bubblier natural progression than what we’ve been accustomed to before, but it’s this development which buzzes with confidence and life.

As if news of her impending EP wasn’t enough to get you hyped, fans will be able to see her live when she embarks on her massive national tour, where she will hit up five states and two territories across the country. All tickets are available at astaworld.com.au
